Some Lagos residents traveling out of the state for the Christmas festivities have lamented the rise in transport fares which they say have gone up for as much as one hundred percent or more.

A visit to some parts of the state especially motor parks, revealed the usual hustle and bustle associated with the yuletide season with a large number of Nigerians traveling out of the state to different destinations across the country to spend the Christmas and new year holiday with their loved ones.

Some passengers and commercial drivers, who spoke to our correspondent at the Iyana Ipaja motor park, said they observed that the volume of passengers at the park this year was low in comparison with last year as some of them lamented that they spent longer period at the park waiting for the vehicle to get filled up.

Despite the hardship, majority of them were happy to embark on the journey to spend time with family members and their loved ones as the year 2018 comes to an end.
